Description: |
The current Drumheller Municipal Airport fuel farm (Avgas 100LL) has reached its end of life and needs to be replaced with a modern above-ground fueling system that meets current CSA B836:22 National Standard of Canada: Storage, handling, and dispensing of aviation fuel at aerodromes. At this time the new fuel tanks will be filled with Jet-A and 100 LL avgas however the tanks should be future proof to allow for the storing and dispensing of all known aviation fuels such as MOGAS and developing fuels such as SAF/G100UL. The new turn-key fuel system should be capable of allowing pilots to purchase and dispense Jet-A and 100 LL avgas without the need of an attendant. The new payment system shall include a software solution that will allow the Town to remotely mange the fuel system, including the ability to generate detailed financial reports, update fuel prices etc. The construction deliverable for this project (to be performed by a qualified contract upon tendering) will include removal of the existing underground fuel system, disposal of the underground fiberglass tanks, and supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the new system with a Point of Sale (POS) system. The current fuel farm consists of two (2) underground fiberglass tanks, which each have a 22,700-litre capacity. These tanks are cross fed and there is one (1) fuel cabinet for 100LL. The total area of the fuel farm is roughly 333m2. The existing fueling cabinet, tanks (2) and ancillary equipment must be removed from site as part of the construction deliverable (to be performed by a qualified contract upon tendering). However, the existing fueling system shall remail operational until the new system has been fully commissioned and capable of dispensing fuel to customers. There is the potential that the two (2) existing cement pads can be used for the fuel cabinet and the Point of Sale (POS) however upon removal of the existing fuel tanks it may be necessary to remove the cement pads. The proponent shall evaluate one alternative site within the Airport for the new fuel tank farm and shall prepare a technical memo recommending the preferred site for the new fuel tank farm. |
